The Office of Community Affairs (OCAF) is officially an operational component of the Neighborhood Service Initiative (NSI), a foundation of the Mayor's Neighborhood Action Initiative. In collaboration with District of Columbia communities, NSI identifies and solves long-term, chronic service delivery problems in each ward and neighborhood. OCAF is the link between the Mayor and the communities.
With respect to NSI, OCAF staffers serve as Neighborhood Outreach Coordinators and are responsible for citizen-engagement events encompassing wards and neighborhoods. OCAF gets DC residents involved through community outreach initiatives and special event planning.
